What is Tourism Management?

It involves the management of a multitude of activities such as studying tour destination, planning the tour, making travel arrangements and providing accommodation. It also involves marketing efforts to attract tourists to travel to particular destinations.

                             

Tourism management refers to the activities associated with travel planning. Hospitality management is the administration of activities in a place where people meet, such as a restaurant, casino, convention center, theme park, or shopping mall. Hotel management, just as the name says, involves managing operations in a hotel or resort.

Tourism and hospitality includes attractions management, convention planning, customer service, event planning, food service, gaming, lodging, marketing, sales and travel. Working in tourism and hospitality management could land you a job almost anywhere in the world. Hotels, airlines, restaurants, transportation companies, tourist services, convention centers, casinos, sports teams, travel agencies and activity providers are all part of a dynamic industry that continually needs skilled employees.


What is the scope of a career in tourism?

Tourism is a business like a Coffee House. Some customers are habitual tourists and will always give you business. Some hate coffee and some hate traveling for fun. Some are willing to try it out, and if provided the right service, will become permanent customers. Some will just try it for once and lose interest quickly.

Another area for concern is that it is hugely impacted by the word of mouth publicity— positive and negative.

A Career in Tourism is suitable for those who consider all these factors and are prepared for difficulties. For those courageous people who venture into this field with sound preparation, it is a Goldmine— rewarding in the end, but frustrating most of the time, except during economic boom times (which occur rarely). According to a report published by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), India may add another Rs. 8, 50,000 Crore by the year 2020-just through tourism.

Also According to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), travel & tourism in 2017 in India supported 41 million jobs and is expected to rise to 43 million in 2018, and a further 53 million in 2028.

As you can see that about 53 million jobs will be in 2028 so, you can imagine how fastly the scope of the travel and tourism industry increased.

                   

One thing is cleared about the employment that the travel and tourism industry has unlimited job opportunities and every student first check that the scope of travel and tourism while selecting the career. First important demand that job opportunities are satisfied.
